Win your way to AISF
Competition terms & conditions
Plain version first: dance, post, add us as a collaborator, send us the link, and get your people to like, comment and vote. Everything below is the same thing written out properly, so that nobody has to guess what we meant.
1. Who runs this
The competition is run by the organisation behind the Amsterdam International Salsa Festival:
Extremos Dance BV
Lange Niezel 20-1
1012 GT Amsterdam
The Netherlands
KvK 91563860
VAT NL865697322B01
Questions about the competition go to ivan@extremos.nl.
2. When
Entries close on November 22, 2026. Round one, in which likes and comments on your post count, runs until November 30, 2026. Round two, the public vote on this website between the finalists, closes on December 13, 2026. The current stage is always shown at the top of the competition page, and that page is leading.
3. Who can take part
- Anyone aged 18 or over, anywhere in the world. Where you live has no influence on whether you can win.
- You enter on your own or as a duo. One entry per person, whichever way you enter.
- People working for the festival, artists on the 2027 line-up, and their households cannot take part.
- You need a public Instagram or Facebook account in your own name.
4. What your entry has to be
- A video of roughly thirty to sixty seconds in which you dance salsa and are recognisable as the person entering, and in which you say AISF or Amsterdam out loud.
- Posted publicly on your own Instagram or Facebook account, and left online until the competition ends.
- A new post, published on or after September 28, 2026, showing a video you made for this competition. An existing post that already carries likes or comments does not qualify, and adding us as a collaborator to an older video afterwards does not make it qualify.
- Recycling an existing video leads to disqualification, including reposting older footage as a new post. We decide whether a video was made for this competition, and that decision is final.
- On Instagram: AISF added as a collaborator, AISF tagged, and the campaign hashtag #WinYourWayToAISF used.
- Submitted through the form on the competition page, including the link to the post. A post that is not submitted through the form is not an entry.
- Your own video. You are responsible for what is in it and for having permission from anyone else who appears in it.
What you can fix, and what you cannot. A missing collaborator, a missing tag or a missing hashtag can be corrected: edit your post, tell us, and the entry counts again with the likes it already has. We will let you know if we spot it. If it is still missing when entries close, the entry does not take part.
A video that was not made for this competition, a post from before the start date, and artificial or bought engagement cannot be corrected. Those end the entry. You are of course free to start again with a new video, as long as entries are still open.
5. How we check entries
We check whether an entry follows these rules and whether it is suitable to show on our website and our channels. That is all we check. There is no jury, there are no scores and dancing ability plays no part in it.
We can refuse an entry that breaks the rules, that is not about salsa, or that contains something we do not want on a festival page. We are not obliged to publish an entry, and refusing one does not have to be explained in detail.
6. How the winner is decided
Round one, on your own post.
- What counts is the number of likes and the number of comments on the post you submitted. A comment counts three times as heavily as a like. If we change that ratio we say so on the competition page before round one starts.
- Only likes and comments on a post that qualifies under section 4 count. If a post turns out to predate the competition, the entry is out.
- We read the numbers off the post ourselves, at moments we choose, and the last count before round one closes is the one that decides. The date of the last count is shown next to the entries.
- Keep the like count on your post visible. If we cannot see the number, we cannot count it, and the entry stays on zero.
- Artificial, bought or fraudulent engagement can disqualify your entry. We check the highest entries by hand before we choose finalists, and our judgement on this is final.
- We choose the finalists from the highest counts. How many finalists there are is published on the competition page when round one closes.
Round two, on this website.
- Only the finalists take part. The public votes here, not on Instagram or Facebook, and from that moment likes no longer count.
- Exactly how voting works is published on the competition page before voting opens, and those rules apply from that moment.
- Votes that are bought, automated or otherwise manipulated are removed, and an entry behind such votes is disqualified.
- The finalist with the most valid votes when voting closes wins.
7. The prize
The prize is a festival experience at the Amsterdam International Salsa Festival, 25 to 28 February 2027. What it contains is listed on the competition page, and that list is the one that counts on the day entries close.
Enter solo or as a duo. If you win, the prize is for the people in your entry: one person for a solo entry, two people for a duo entry. There are no extra passes, flights or hotel places for anyone else.
- Entered as a duo: two passes, two flights and one room for the two of you, and you travel together. Entered on your own: one pass, one flight and a room for you.
- The prize cannot be exchanged for money, sold or transferred to someone else.
- We book your return flight to Amsterdam, economy class, wherever in the world you live. If you entered as a duo, we book both flights.
- The hotel is one room for the nights of the festival, booked by us. For a duo that is a room for two.
- The private lesson is one lesson, whether you entered solo or as a duo. It depends on the artist agreeing and on their schedule. Some artists are not available for it. We will tell you who you can choose from.
- Dinner with the artists is one evening during the festival, at the festival.
- Performing on Sunday is not part of the prize. Depending on the festival programme and on availability, the winner may be offered the opportunity to perform on Sunday. It may also not happen, and that changes nothing about the rest.
- Anything you spend beyond the prize is yours: extra nights, other travel, food outside what is included, and anything else.
- If you have already bought a pass for 2027, we refund it once you have won. Nobody pays twice.
- If you need a visa for the Netherlands, tell us as soon as you have won. We write you an invitation letter, but you apply yourself and you carry the cost of the application. We cannot arrange the visa and we cannot swap the prize for money if it is refused or does not arrive in time. That is why the winner is announced in December and not in January.
The prize may be extended during the campaign. It will not be made smaller after entries close.
8. Telling the winner
We contact the winner by email at the address given on the entry form, within five days of voting closing. If we have had no answer after seven days, the prize goes to the next entry in the count. Make sure the email address you give us is one you read.
9. The Winner Journey
We invite the winner to share their experience with their followers, and we help with that. It is an invitation and nothing more. It is not a condition for entering, for winning, or for receiving any part of the prize, and choosing not to do it costs you nothing.
10. Your video, your name, your photo
Your video stays yours. By entering you give us permission to show your video, your photo, your name, your city and country and your social profile on our website, in our newsletters, on our channels and in advertising for this competition and for the festival, for as long as the 2027 edition is being promoted.
You do not give up any rights and you can ask us to stop using your material, by mailing ivan@extremos.nl. If you do that while the competition is running, your entry ends, because there is nothing left to show.
11. Your details
We keep what you fill in on the form so we can run this competition. Your email address, and any phone number you give us, stay with us and are never shown on the website. What does appear publicly is your name, your city and country, your social profile, your video and what you wrote about why you want to come.
We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to anyone else. We delete the entries after the 2027 edition, unless you asked us to keep you on the mailing list. Want your details removed sooner, mail ivan@extremos.nl.
12. Instagram and Facebook
This competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram, Facebook or Meta in any way. Your entry is with us, not with them, and any question about it comes to us.
13. If something changes
If the festival has to move or cannot go ahead, the prize moves with it to the next edition. If circumstances outside our control make a part of the prize impossible, we replace it with something of similar value. We can change these rules if we have to, and if we do we say so on this page and mail everyone who has entered.
14. And the small print of the small print
This is a competition of skill and effort, not a lottery: the outcome is decided by public votes and there is no element of chance. Dutch law applies. If we cannot work something out together, it goes to the court in Amsterdam.
Anything here that is not clear, mail ivan@extremos.nl and we will explain it in normal words.
